About COVID-19

The Coronavirus may cause a range of illnesses in humans, and is part of a large family of viruses. COVID-19 can cause a person to have the common cold to SARS.

Pandemic Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The WHO China Country Office reported cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology which was detected in Wuhan City China. News sources speculate that the first human infections began on November 2019 or earlier in China. Jinyintan Hospital is where the first 59 suspected patients were admitted and began isolation. It began at the end of December 2019 to early January 2020.

The best way to prevent the spread of infections is to:

  • wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, especially with unwashed hands;
  • avoid close contact with people who are sick;
  • cough and sneeze into your sleeve and not your hands; and
  • stay home if you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others.
